Product Description
The Aztec god of war, Huitzilopochtli, is immersed in powerful significance from the presence of hummingbirds. Legend has it that Coatlicue, goddess of fertility also known as "the one with the serpent skirt", was sweeping the temple of Coatepec (serpent mountain) when she found some beautiful hummingbird feathers that she kept in her bosom, and with it she remained pregnant.

That baby in her womb was Huitzilopochtli, the god of war, and although her other daughter, Coyolxauhqui, planned her mother's death due to alleged dishonor when the father was unknown, the baby spoke to her mother from her womb to appease her, warning that he himself would defend her.

Eventually Huitzilopochtli was born and came to this world equipped with armor, an eagle shield, a hummingbird feather sandal on his left foot, and a xiuhcoatl (serpent of fire). With it he cut off her sister's head and defeated her 400 brothers. He then threw Coyolxauhqui's head into the air, which became the moon; in a beautiful metaphor about the rebirth and death of the moon each month.
This is why the Hummingbird warrior is loyal and true true to its creed, he's a messenger to the warriors on the battlefield but he's also loyal to its patron.
